Enterprise Functional Decomposition & ADO Requirements
Translating complex business and engineering workflows into structured, traceable system requirements to support EPMS platform evaluation.
Fuzion was engaged by the Generation organization and Corporate IT to develop a comprehensive IT Project Charter and Azure DevOps (ADO) functional requirements framework for the EPMS program.
The effort supported a strategic evaluation across Generation, Operations, and Transmission & Distribution — whether to continue investing in existing platforms or transition to commercial SaaS alternatives — and required a formal, defensible, and traceable documentation package.
Key Challenges
- Lack of standardized, traceable requirements across business units.
- Need to support enterprise-level platform evaluation decisions.
- Complex alignment across Generation, Operations, T&D, and Corporate IT.
What We Delivered
- EPMS IT Project Charter aligned with enterprise governance standards.
- Current- and future-state architecture and process mapping across business units.
- Decomposition of business requirements into functional and non-functional requirements.
- A structured ADO framework of epics, features, and user stories with testable acceptance criteria.
Strategic Value
- A vendor-neutral decision framework to compare SaaS alternatives against modernized internal platforms.
- Reduced risk through explicit, measurable, and testable requirements.
- A reusable ADO framework for future enterprise initiatives.
